Dumble history it’s a myth if I put these into a room with other amps you would never be able to tell the difference I can duplicate the sound anywhere this is the most over blown bloated myth of the last 50 years sorry it was a good video and you’re a great player but do not try to sell people on how great these things are please

The best bedroom amp I’ve come across so far is my 30W Roland Blues Cube Hot. Of course a Boss Katana is cheaper and will do the trick if you don’t mind tweaking. But build quality and sound is far superior on the Roland imo. And I’m talking even at minuscule amounts of volume, the Blues Cube sounds 99% as good as when you crank it up. The compression, sag and feel are all there at any volume level, it’s a great amp. Again imo. Sounds good using headphones 🎧 too. Happy playing folks. 🎶🤘🏻🎸

Matt, I remember when you said you were leaving your day job ( at a bank if I remember correctly) to pursue your music full time. It’s none of my business but either you won a lottery or inherited a trust fund. Not sure how you are affording all this beat up vintage gear but more power to you. You have found a path and that is awesome! You have talent and determination so don’t stop!

I recently bought one of the newer Fender '64 Custom Hand-Wired' DR's and it is every bit the equivalent of the vintage amps if not better. I had a real-deal, brand-new '66 DR back in the mid 60's. I was young and stupid and didn't realize what I had. However, this new version is every bit as good as that amp was as best as I can remember after all this time. 🙂

I really don't understand the hype about these amps. I've listened to so many clips trying to see if I missed something. The tone of these amps just does nothing for me. Hate to be a Debbie Downer but I gotta be honest. I'll take my '69 Deluxe Reverb's tone over these any day of the week

Sounds great. There’s kind of an incessant white noise wash in the background from the reverb or room reverb though. Listening to you talk after the performance, it sounds like you could use some more sound dampening in that room. 👍🏻

I was always seeking this tone thinking it might be a vintage overdrive or saturated distortion but not after such a long time I realised the tone I was seeking is a fuzz tone

I tried one. Pretty spendy. Sounded good on its own at bedroom volumes. I didnt keep it because of the way pedals reacted with it. Made good pedals sound and feel like pedals.

What effects do you use to get that first tone it sounds amazing

I've got the AO 60s Strat. I prefer the shell inlay and transition logo of the 60s Strat. I suspect I'd prefer the neck of the '61.

Original owner of a '73 Strat, large headstock, maple fretboard, 3-bolt, bullet, staggered pole pieces. Really the only Strat I "know" other than my bro-in-law's candy apple red '65, rosewood fretboard. It sounds dull compared to my '73. Need to finally try to find a 50's or 60's with a maple fretboard to compare. But I love my '73. If early-ish to later 70's was good enough for Blackmore... Great playing and tone! I try to pick up some of your riffs with some success lol

They aren’t bad for practice or if you are the only guitar in your band, however they get lost and buried when you play with someone with a good tube amp.

Great vid & it looks like that model is a great introduction to the Marshall world for you. Fwiw, I always thought Marshall should have taken the 1974x format and doubled it (2x12" + 4xEL-84's), kinda like an AC-30, but obviously a very different (simplified) topology. I know they had/have the JTM45 "Bluesbreaker" combo, but a quad EL-84, 2x12 Marshall would have made a very cool amp (esp in light of Vox's downturn in the 70's).

What is that blue pedal next to ts808?

The heel of that neck has been shaved to flatten the radius that is used for Stratocasters. That may be contributing to the adjustment piece sticking out.

No neck shim either...hmmmm.

That tone is the holy grail so many are searching for ... and your playing is also another holy grail ...

I think the firebird strap peg is the coolest part.

Nice guitar, sounds good, vintage sound, and same feature that makes that it is not for me ..: cannot adjust the truss rod without disassembling half of the instrument …

The Strat through that thing was predictably good, but man that old Gibson pairs incredibly well with that amp. Great tones and playing.

Sounds great man, nice resurrection. Curious what you are doing with the bridge to get a clean string break and avoid that smooth top that tends to "sitar" and dampen sustain? It also sounds like decent intonation which is tough to get with early wraparound bridges. Play on my friend. Cheers!
